Belina will share insights and experiences she’s had in teaching her healing comedy course, including an exercise on clarity.
If you are like most people, the idea of doing stand up comedy for the first time scares the heck out of you. Doing stand up is a heightened experience which, if we are not careful, makes our inner and outer critics run amuck, and narrows our possible content through fear. That is why so many open mic nights feel…not healing.
For the past 10 years, Belina has worked with climate scientists, humanitarian workers, and many others to write and perform a very personal, loving and generous form of stand up comedy about ideas that matter. She does this to deepen our practice of finding genuine, energising lightness even in heavy times, and of being kind, generous, and connected even when we are afraid. For those facing difficult and inherently scary climate and social information on a daily basis, cultivating these practices are vital.
Belina has run her Sustainable Stand Up comedy course over 50 times and in 10 different countries. And in so doing, she has found that stand up comedy taps something both universal and healing - both for participants and for audiences.
In this one hour fundraiser, Belina will share insights and experiences she’s had in teaching her healing comedy course, and she will include a particular exercise which helps us to clarify what we really care about. Please join to explore new insights about how to create healing spaces in our complex world.
We will also be offering a class with Belina in the near future that is bespoke to CPA-NA! Keep an eye out for news on this on our social media pages!
